Mongolian artists to perform in Thornbury

Heavy metal music fans will be thrilled to see a Mongolian band of the genre will be performing this month in Thornbury, as a sideshow to the ‘Knotfest Australia’ tour.

Known for wielding screaming guitars while blending heavy metal with a traditional Mongolian element of guttural singing, The Hu are a unique act. ‘Rumble of Thunder’ is their most recent album, and has been listed as one of the most anticipated metal album of the year.

The Hu incorporate instruments like the Tovshuur (Mongolian guitar), Tumur Khuur (jaw harp) and Morin Khuur (horsehead fiddle), all of which feature in their popular music videos such as ‘Wolf Totem’ and ‘Yuve Yuve.’

The band has sold out shows across the world, and appeared at festivals like Download, Lollapalooza and Coachella, to name just a few. The Hu also became the first band to be awarded the prestigious UNESCO ‘Artist of Peace’ designation.
