Seaford motocross track set to open to riders again

A Seaford motorcycle track is finally set to reopen after months of wrangling over its future.

The Frankston Motorcycle Park in Old Wells Road in Seaford has been closed since April due to safety issues. The track was run by volunteer members of the Frankston Motorcycle Park incorporated club, but Frankston City Council was unwilling to allow the club to continue on its own.

Now it has been announced that an agreement has been reached between the club, the council, and Motorcycling Victoria, which had been brought in to help resolve the situation, and the track will reopen this month.

Under the new terms, the venue will be leased back to the club, but Motorcycling Victoria will oversee its work for the next 11 months.

While Motorcycling Victoria is usually involved with venues used for competitions and races, the Seaford track will remain open for recreational riders including children, who will all be covered under the organisation’s insurance policy.

Now the track will be available again, the club could use Flyers to encourage former members to rejoin and new riders to try the venue. Banner printing and Signs could also be used at
the track to advertise its change in status.

Under the new agreement, the lease will be reviewed each month with a view to the club being given sole control of the track after the initial 11-month period.
