Funding on offer for Frankston firms

Small businesses from Seaford and across Frankston City are being encouraged to seek help from the city council in the form of grants this year.

Frankston City Council is one of only a few councils across Australia that offer direct grants to small enterprises to help them boost their business.

Companies can apply for up to $15,000 if they can demonstrate how they will increase their business and contribute to the local economy. Successful applicants are also given an advertising package, including Print adverts in the local newspaper and a spot on Frankston television.

As well as this, businesses can use some of the grant money for promotional material, such as flyer printing or business card printing. Grants can also be spent on staff training, website development, shop refits, and product development.

This year, there are five categories, including one for firms that are just starting out, one for businesses moving into Frankston from outside the immediate area, and one for home-based businesses moving into commercial premises.

Funding is also available companies beginning to export their products, and for businesses with products or services that benefit the environment.

Applications open next month and close in October. Potential applicants must also attend one of the two information sessions in early September. More information and application Forms can be found on the Frankston City Council website.
