Opera experience comes to Hawthorn

Fans of theatre, opera and classical music in Hawthorn will have the chance to enjoy the music of four iconic composers as Opera Scholars Australia bring their songs to life in ‘Lieder to Lehár’. Works by Schumann, Schubert, Lehár and Korngold will be performed live on stage by singers from Opera Scholars Australia's Graduate Program, accompanied by pianist Rhodri Clarke.

Performances will be accompanied by excerpts from the staged works of these composers, offering audiences the opportunity to appreciate the songs in their theatrical context. The show features the full spectrum of their talents, from the spectacle of opera to the poeticism of the lied.

Opera Scholars Australia is a development program dedicated to training young classical singers, giving them the skills and performance experience needed to progress their careers and help kickstart their stage careers. Their shows function both as a way to provide valuable performance experience to their scholars, as well as to:

“preserve the proud tradition of classical singing in Australia and ensure that the stories of the future are told through the beauty of vocal music”

Theatres often use brochure printing services to produce programs for their shows, which will typically provide audiences with the details of the works featured in the performance, as well as the names and backgrounds of the performers.

‘Lieder to Lehár’ from Opera Scholars Australia will come to the Hawthorn Arts Centre for one night only, from 7:30pm on Thursday May 1st.
