Hawthorn to host special music tribute

An event paying homage to a much-loved musical movie is coming to Hawthorn’s home of the arts.

Fans of The Blues Brothers in Hawthorn can soon enjoy this live musical experience, which is dedicated to the famous film. Starring comedians Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi and music icons like Aretha Franklin and Ray Charles, the classic movie is adored by fans of rhythm and blues around the world. Now, an event called “Blues Roulette Big Band: The Blues Brothers in Concert” will recreate its musical performances on stage in the suburb.

The upcoming show features a 12-piece band made of blues royalty from around Melbourne. Led by Vince Bradly and Paul Slattery in the roles of Jake and Elwood Blues, the production also features rising star Isuela, who will perform “Think” by Aretha Franklin, and is directed by Ben Wicks. A Chicago-style rhythm and blues juggernaut, the show has sold out festivals and club nights for a decade.

Blues Roulette Big Band: The Blues Brothers in Concert will now be live on stage at the Hawthorn Arts Centre on Saturday, May 9. The event begins at 7.30 pm and runs until 9:30 pm, and the venue is based at 360 Burwood Road in Hawthorn.
