Local photographer on a bid to document Australia.

A Hawthorn photographer has embarked on an intrepid journey to take photographs around Australia.

Eddie Hobson plans to spend 100 days travelling around the country taking photographs in as many locations as possible, including beaches, cities, rural areas, and the desert.

The Hawthorn East based photographer estimates he will snap in excess of 500,000 pictures during his trip.

Once he has finished his journey, Hobson will turn his photographs into time-lapse videos to be featured on the Internet. Time-lapse photography involves shooting pictures at one location over a period of time and then using a computer programme to merge the pictures together to create a fast-changing image.

The 23-year-old has already created time-lapse pieces of Melbourne and New York and now hopes to document different parts of Australia in the same way.

Hobson plans to create a series of videos of the country's capital cities and regional areas and a short time-lapse film showing the best of Australia. He said:

"I thought it would be amazing to capture all of Australia's beauty, from desolate plains and beautiful beaches to bustling metropolises."

Amateur photographers inspired by Hobson's project could start their own smaller project taking pictures in their local area. Print companies can produce prints or Posters from photographs or even collect a series of photographs together to produce a book.

Anyone wanting to keep up to date with Hobson's project can visit his website, Ta-Ta Ride Photography, on which he will be posting photographs and videos from his journey.
