Healthy living to be promoted in Whittlesea

A new project is encouraging Epping residents to embrace a healthier lifestyle.

The LiveLighter initiative is Victorian State Government funded and backed by the City of Whittlesea Council, and is designed to teach people about the dangers of being overweight.

The council’s Healthy Together team is organising a series of events to help people make simple changes to their life to improve their health, and the council is encouraging people to use its free outdoor exercise facilities such as those at Lyndarum Wetland and Lehmann's Farm Park in Epping.

Whittlesea Mayor Councillor Mary Lailor said she was urging all residents to get involved with the scheme. She said:

“Spring is a great time to start making small lifestyle changes. We’re excited about the new LiveLighter campaign because it does more than just try to motivate people to lose weight. It also explains why they need to take action and provides useful tips and tools.”

Whittlesea City Council is also looking for people who have successfully changed their lifestyles to share their stories as part of the campaign.

The chosen champions will help encourage others to take part in the scheme, and their stories could be used on promotional material such as poster printing.
