Construction begins on Epping development

Almost 20 years ago, development group Riverlee purchased 51 hectares of land, formerly home to the Epping quarry. In a collaboration between Riverlee and the City of Whittlesea, the area is set to become a $2 billion mixed-use development, and construction is now underway.

The development is already being considered one of the most impressive mixed-use projects ever seen in the country. Known as New Epping, the development will provide a private hospital and 2,500 new apartments and townhouses, along with a premium commercial office precinct. It is estimated that around 5,000 new jobs will be created during construction alone.

Epping is one of Victoria’s fastest-growing municipalities, and the catchment grows at around 2,800 residents per year. Affordable housing and healthcare were at the top of the agenda when considering this mammoth project, and are the key reasons behind an initiative to fast-track approvals through the Building Victoria Recovery Taskforce.

Dubbed by Riverlee as a “new city in the suburbs”, New Epping will be a refreshing upgrade in the north and will provide the vital amenities and infrastructure needed to support the rapidly growing area.

New projects such as this often launch promotional campaigns in order to raise the area’s profile. Housing developers can benefit from brochure printing and distribution to create awareness and interest.

The project will be developed over a 10-15-year period, with the completion date for the hospital estimated to be around May 2023.
