Silcock Reserve Pavilion redevelopment on track

Work on Croydon's $3.2 million Silcock Reserve Pavilion is progressing well, despite being interrupted due to the coronavirus.

According to Michael Sukkar MP, the redevelopment project, which is on track for completion in about March this year, will deliver a new first-class pavilion to service the Croydon and District Obedience Dog Club, Croydon Ranges All Abilities, Croydon Ranges Football Club and Croydon Ranges Cricket Club. He added:

“I was very pleased to support this project with a $500,000 grant from the Federal Government.”

Sukkar said that once the facility has been completed, the community will be able to enjoy a number of multipurpose spaces.

The extensive work programme includes the demolition of the undercover viewing area for spectators, social space and soccer/cricket change rooms. This will be followed by the establishment of four female-friendly change rooms, two umpire change rooms, a first-aid room, kitchen, kiosk, new social space for multi-purposes, new amenities, new viewing area undercover for spectators, a number of store rooms and a toilet providing public access.

Events held at popular venues such as the one at Silcock Reserve are often widely advertised via flyer printing campaigns.

The project has been funded jointly by the City of Maroondah, together with $500,000 from the Australian Government and $250,000 from the State Government. A further $125,000 was also contributed by the Victorian Government for new lighting to be installed on the reserve.
