Residents of Croydon are set to benefit from the redevelopment of two sporting facilities approved by the Maroondah City Council.
Cheong Park will undergo major redevelopment with most of its existing pavilion demolished. The vision is to create a double storey building that will provide spectators with superior views of the oval from a viewing balcony. Indoors, a large 200m² social area is planned.
Other improvements include two female changerooms, a kiosk, first aid room, umpires changerooms, a meeting room, kitchen, bar and undercover areas for spectators that run the length of the pavilion.
Cheong Park Pavilion may be home to the South Croydon Cricket Club and the South Croydon Football Club, but these upgrades will benefit the entire community. Construction on the $3.5 million redevelopment project is set to begin in early November, with the completion of the project aiming for the end of August 2021.
Work on the Silcock Reserve is already underway to create two umpires changerooms, four female changerooms, a new kitchen and kiosk, a first-aid room, undercover areas for spectators, a multi-purpose social area and an accessible public toilet. It is expected to be completed by February 2021.
The Silcock Reserve project is being undertaken by Johns Lyng Commercial Builders, which has proven capability across numerous projects within the education, hospitality, aged care, residential, industrial and commercial sectors. Companies often make use of printing services to create Blueprints and design plans when working on community projects.
