Libraries offer new home delivery service

Residents of Croydon and surrounding eastern suburbs can still get access to their favourite reading material during quarantine, despite the closure of local library doors.

The Eastern Regional Libraries, which service Knox, Maroondah and Yarra Ranges Councils, have extended their home library service to all members during the Covid-19 restrictions. Initially this service was only available to those members who could not physically get to their local library, however, since April 6, this service now includes all its members.

The service ensures that members have access to Books, magazines, DVD’s and games to keep themselves entertained during isolation. Materials are placed into a parcel and posted out to reader’s homes.

Library members are able to select their materials online and place holds on popular items they find in the catalogue. The service even goes the extra mile by selecting materials for members, should they request it.

In order to arrange a delivery, members need to contact the library via phone Monday to Friday between 9am and5pm or through the Eastern Regional Libraries’ website. Organisations such as this, may utilise graphic design to make their websites easy to navigate and to notify the community of new services and programmes that are available.

Children have also been included, as their favourite stories and songs are brought to them by their local librarian via live streaming on their Facebook page at 11am on weekdays. A range of training and technology webinars are also available to members online.
