Innovative artists to exhibit in Croydon

Residents of Croydon can take advantage of seeing two new exhibitions by artists this year.

The Arts Lounge Exhibition now features the work of ceramicist Nicole Tomlinson and abstract artist Robyn Gunther, who works in acrylics and other mixed artistry.

Tomlinson has two mini collections on show, called Masking and identity - Facades We Adopt and Truths. In the first collection, The Protagonist and Her Masks, Tomlinson delves deep into identity - that which is revealed to the world, and that which remains hidden.

In Collection Two, I’ll Give You Something to Cry About, Tomlinson explores the inner child and make-believe.

Gunther’s contribution is entitled Beyond. Here, she exhibits alternate realities, mainly using layers of acrylic paint with brushes and other mark-making tools, and combining a love of colour form and design. Her work references landscapes in the real world but remains unconstrained by it, allowing the work to be a reflection of her imagination. Gunther says of her work:
“…I can see a path, and even though it may meander, it becomes well-defined.”

Exhibits often feature descriptions through informative labels, which can be generated by working with local Print shops.

The Arts Lounge Exhibition – Nicole Tomlinson and Robyn Gunther is an ongoing exhibition and is taking place daily from 9 am until 5 pm on Saturday 12 July. The venue is the Wyreena Community Arts Centre, which can be found at 13 – 23 Hull Road in Croydon.
