Fundraising walk coming to Croydon

There is still time for Maroondah residents to enter this year's Relay for Life being held in Croydon this month.

The Relay for Life is an overnight event backed by the Cancer Council of Australia, during which teams aim to walk a course for 18 hours while their supporters camp nearby.

Walkers include cancer survivors and their carers and family, as well
as friends and relatives who have lost people to the disease.

The opening lap is dedicated to cancer survivors, and a special candlelight ceremony will be held on the Saturday evening to remember people who have passed away.

Supporters could use banner printing to cheer on the walkers or to remember a loved one who has lost a battle with cancer.

A group from Maroondah City Council will also be taking part this year in memory of Councillor Ann Fraser, and local residents are invited to join the team if they wish or make a donation to the council's fundraising efforts.

Money raised from the event goes to the Cancer Council, which funds research into improved screening and treatment, educates people on reducing cancer risks and supports cancer patients and their families.

This year's Relay for Life takes place at Town Park in Croydon on Saturday November 14th and Sunday November 15th. Registration is $20 and can be completed through the Relay for Life website.
