Nine to 14 year olds who live in the Croydon area may be interested in an upcoming workshop that covers planning, shooting and editing a short film of their own.
Award-winning Lily Lunder is leading the program, describing herself as passionate about nurturing new talent. Lunder started making films at just 16, and her early work was shown at local festivals. Ater studying Film and TV at the Victorian College of the Arts, her films have now been shown at larger festivals such as St Kilda and Melbourne Women in Film Festival.
The workshop is hands-on and suitable for all interests such as directing, acting and story-creating. It will also cover technical skills such as camera operation and sound-mixing.
The finale of the workshop will involve the premiere screening of the film for an audience of family and friends.
Film screenings are often advertised within a community by the use of poster printing, often undertaken locally.
From Script to Screen: Filmmaking with Lily Lunder is taking place on Tuesdays from 28 October until 25 November, from 4.15 pm until 5.45 pm. There is also a weekend intensive scheduled for Saturday, 22 November. The location is Wyreena Community Arts Centre, 13-23 Hull Road, Croydon. The cost for the program is $20, and the program is suitable for those aged 9 to 14.
