Croydon music fans to enjoy US rock

An iconic rock band from New York City will soon perform live in Melbourne.

Music lovers from Croydon and other suburbs are set to enjoy a show from New York rocker group The Strokes as they storm the stage at the John Cain Arena. Major event spaces like arenas and auditoriums often require large-scale signage and sometimes employ professional banner printing services to produce advertisements.

Already booked to play Australia’s renowned Splendour in the Grass event, the band will be playing sideshows in both Melbourne and Sydney for their fans. The US band formed back in 1998 and features Julian Casablancas on vocals, Albert Hammond Junior and Nick Valensi on guitars, Nikolai Fraiture on bass guitar and Fabrizio Moretti on drums. The Strokes led an indie rock revival in the 2000s, and their first release, an EP called “The Modern Age”, caused a bidding war between major record labels.

RCA Records emerged as the victor, and in 2001 had the privilege of releasing the hit studio album “Is This It”. The debut album achieved critical success with hits like “New York City Cops”, “Last Night”. “Take It or Leave It” and “Hard to Explain”, propelling the band on a rise through the charts.

The Strokes will play at the John Cain Arena, at Olympic Boulevard in Melbourne, on Tuesday, July 26, supported by the Lazy Eyes and the Chats.
