Croydon art lovers treated to flowery new exhibition

Art lovers of Croydon and surrounding suburbs are being invited to a new exhibition by a local artist and member of the Victorian Artists Society, Hsin Lin.

Lin’s exhibition, dubbed “Bloom Like Flowers”, is a celebration of the beauty of Australian native flora and the habitats that support them. A fashion designer by profession, Lin’s talents also extend to the paintbrush and canvas, with her slow and exacting process capturing the details of some of the nation’s most magnificent native botanical species. Public art exhibitions such as this can benefit from brochure printing to provide attendees with key information about each of the works in a collection.

While still-life paintings are considered by many to be a largely traditional art form, Lin’s technique has been described as elevating the well-established style to a whole new level. Some of her larger works have taken up to four to six months to complete, with finer details developed by using 10 or more paint layers. By contrast, other works in the collection also demonstrate Lin’s skill with more spontaneous and abstract representations of her floral subjects.

Presented by the Maroondah City Council, Lin’s Bloom Like Flowers exhibition is currently open to the public at the Maroondah Federation Estate Gallery until 8th April. More information can be found on Lin’s website.
