Council invites residents views on future of Jubilee Park

The thoughts of residents in Croydon and throughout the City of Maroondah are being sought by Council to help determine the key needs of Jubilee Park sporting precinct and adjacent open space now and into the future.

Community input has been invited to help in the creation of a Jubilee Park draft Enhancement Plan. Councillor Nora Lamont, of Mullum Ward, said discussions had already been held with stakeholders and user groups with key elements put forward, which so far include accessibility, open space, sporting facilities and bushland.

Venues such as Jubilee Park are often advertised via flyer printing as hosts of major local events and can be an important part of the community.

Lamont said the feedback was helping Council to come up with common opportunities, ideas and themes to be considered in a draft plan for the precinct’s improvement. According to the councillor, key aspects would consider current usage as well as enhancement opportunities for future broader community and local use of the open space. She added:

“Improvements to pedestrian and cycling connectivity, spectator viewing, reviewing dog off-leash areas, additional lighting and more tree planting to increase bushland areas are among many ideas being considered to enhance this important and popular community precinct.”

Sporting clubs based at Jubilee Park include boxing, soccer, swimming, croquet, tennis, cricket and football.

Comments are invited on four elements, which are enhanced accessibility, open space, sporting facilities and bushland.
