The Bone Marrow Donor Institute in Croydon is set to benefit from the funds raised in this year’s Mayoral Art Exhibition.
Artists of all levels and ages have been invited to enter the annual competition, which is based on the theme of ‘Light and Shadow’. Participating artists are urged to explore reflections, shade, light and the strong contrasts experienced between dark and light within their artwork.
Entry is open to works in all mediums including ceramics, printmaking, painting, drawing, sculpture and photography. During its 26-year run, the exhibition has proved popular with entries being submitted from artists from Maroondah City and across Victoria. Flyer printing is often undertaken to help advertise events such as the exhibition.
According to Mayor Mike Symon, the Mayoral Art Exhibition is not only an opportunity for entrants to gain additional exposure for their works but it also provides a financial boost for the Bone Marrow Donor Institute with a quarter of money raised from entry fees and art piece sales being donated to the cause.
Works created for the competition will also be in contention for purchase and inclusion in the 400-piece strong Maroondah City Council Art Collection and the Bendigo Bank’s Ringwood East/Heathmont branch.
The Mayoral Art Exhibition is set to take place on April 30, with the deadline for entries being a month earlier, on March 30.
