The council offers the funding grants to the local community annually as part of the Arts and Cultural Grants Programme and the Community Grants Funding Programme, for which submissions opened recently.
Maroondah Mayor Kylie Spears said the grants provide funding for eligible entities that can show their programme or service is making a positive impact on the local community and are limited in their ability to acquire the necessary funding. She added:
“This includes programmes that will increase opportunities for community participation in social, arts and leisure activities, enhance community wellbeing, or a service demonstrating a community need within Maroondah.”
According to the mayor, there are three categories for which financial assistance is available. These include up to $7,000 as part of the Emergency Relief Grants Scheme, amounts of up to $750 for the Small Equipment Grants Scheme and up to $5,000 for the Community Development Grants Scheme.
Flyer printing campaigns have often been rolled out to alert local groups about major funding opportunities such as the latest grants on offer.
The deadline for grant applications, which are to be made via the council's website, is April 23, 2021. Results will be finalised later in June, followed by the distribution of funding in July.
