Tribute bands to rock audiences near Broadmeadows

Three popular bands of the 1990s and 2000s are set to be honoured by tribute acts one evening near Broadmeadows.

An evening of rock tunes has been promised at a local venue this February. The Rage Against the 90s evening consists of bands in the guise of Funky Monks, Foovana and the cover band, Funk Me.

Funky Monks was formed in 1992 and is Australia’s longest running Red Hot Chili Peppers tribute band. The first show played to a packed house after the original artists’ Blood Super Sex Magik Tour concert.

Still containing its original line-up, the tribute band continues to “wow” audiences according to critics, with an energetic rendering of current and back catalogue songs.

Foovana is a Foo Fighters and Nirvana tribute band from Melbourne, and has been exciting crowds since 2011.

Funk Me consists of Adelaide musicians who get together to play favourite cover party songs, with some more unusual song choices.

The playlist on the evening is likely to include hits such as Californication, Everlong and Smells Like Teen Spirit. Poster printing locally may be used in order to produce material to advertise up and coming music evenings.

The Rage Against the 90s tribute evening is taking place on Friday, 7 from 6pm, until Saturday, 8 February at 1am. The venue is Musicland Fawkner, situated at 1359a Sydney Road in Fawkner, near Broadmeadows. Tickets cost $20.
