Business owners from Broadmeadows have the chance to hear from a national publishing great next month, at one of the last local business events for the year.
The Northern Business Achievement Awards’ December breakfast will feature guest speaker Nene King, who will discuss her career and what she has learned from her decades in the publishing industry. King developed a strong reputation working first on Woman’s Weekly and then on Woman’s Day magazines.
During her career, King rose from a reporter at New Idea magazine to editor of Woman’s Day during one of its most successful periods. She was the first women to make it to the board of media giant Kerry Packer’s publishing company and has been picked as one of Australia’s most powerful women.
Her rivalry with the then editor of New Idea magazine Dulcie Boling, her former boss, was dramatized on television in the series Paper Giants: Magazine Wars.
The event will also be a good chance to get a final bit of networking done before Christmas and perhaps set up some new relationships to develop in the new year. Professional business card printing is a must for these sorts of events, in order to create a good first impression so attendees might like to put in an order for fresh cards before they go.
The breakfast is set to take place on Thursday December 5 at the Rydges Bell City in Preston. Places must be booked online by Monday December 2.
