Job kiosk launched to help unemployed in Broadmeadows

Broadmeadows Central has welcomed a new kiosk that will focus on assisting people requiring jobs and education.

The Kangan Institute’s Skills and Job stall was launched in December by Broadmeadows MP Frank McGuire.

McGuire applauded the introduction of the booth, which he said will provide help to anyone seeking apprenticeship training, tertiary education or job options. He added that staff members, who will be fully trained, will be on hand to provide personalised advice on a range of issues, including employment trends, jobs in demand, enhancing employability and study. This all means visitors may like to take along note pads to jot down relevant information.

The MP said everyone will be able to visit the jobs kiosk, including former workers at the old Ford Factory that closed recently, and residents of Broadmeadows and the Greater Hume Council area.

McGuire emphasised the importance of this latest initiative in putting locals first, and said it was a priority to ensure the Kangan Institute has what it needs to provide the community with the necessary skills to obtain new jobs.

His words were echoed by Trevor Schwenke, Kangan Chief Executive, who said the institute is committed to supporting and assisting community members.

New signs make the kiosk easy to locate, as well as display opening hours from Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
