What's Happening in Broadmeadows, VIC…

Hume to come alive with the sound of music

The city of Hume is set to welcome some very special guests when the annual Festival of Music takes place in the area this week.

Debra Byrne will sing a range of pop songs and favourites from musical theatre at Rupertswood Mansion in Sunbury on Friday, the festival’s second day.

To close the festival, Kate Ceberano will be performing hits from her 25-year career in the music industry, alongside tracks from her latest album, at a concert on Sunbury Village Green.

As well as these two talented female singers, there will be a range of events taking place around the region, with something sure to suit every musical taste. The annual festival is designed to promote music and creativity in Hume, and many of the performers are based in the area - including the budding pop stars and cultural groups.

Music lovers from Broadmeadows will find plenty taking place nearby, including Sunbury musician Scott Boyd, music from indigenous Australia, Hmong songs from South-East Asia and an Elvis Presley tribute show at the Broadmeadows Leisure Centre. The Broadmeadows Community Singers are also taking part in the event, with a concert at the Meadow Heights Community Centre on Wednesday October 9.

Printing services have been used to produce a colourful programme for the festival, listing details of all 30 events, many of which are free. The festival takes place from Thursday until Sunday October 13, when Kate Ceberano will be performing. For more information, visit the Hume City Council website.
