What's Happening in Broadmeadows, VIC…

Hume Council urges residents to act responsibly

With the second wave of Coronavirus hitting the northern suburbs of Melbourne, the Hume City Council is urging residents of Broadmeadows and surrounding suburbs to act responsibly and get tested.

Residents within the Hume City shire who display any symptoms, no matter how mild, are able to head to various testing locations. These include drive-in testing sites at Broadmeadows Central Shopping Centre and Melbourne Airport where residents can get a swab taken from the back of the nose and throat. There are also walk-in testing sites at various locations across the Hume City area.

As a result of the newly imposed restrictions, the Hume City Council has once again closed community, aquatic and sport centres in an effort to contain the spread of the virus and flatten the curve.

The Hume Council will continue to operate essential services such as Maternal and Child Health, immunisations, Disability and Aged services, child care and waste collection. Libraries across the shire will continue to offer the Express programme.

The stage three restrictions require residents to only leave their homes for four reasons - shopping for essentials, work, medical care and exercise. All these restrictions come with strict regulations to enforce social distancing and the Victorian Premier, Daniel Andrews, has recommended that the public wear masks when out and about. Residents caught breaking these rules face the possibility of a hefty fine. Graphic design is used by Councils and other authoritative organisations to keep residents up-to-date regarding information and services available.

Further information regarding testing centres and services can be found on the Hume City Council website.
