Foodies look forward to the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival

Food lovers will be in their element next month with 17 days of events, tastings and cooking across Melbourne at the Food and Wine Festival.

Whether it is learning how to cook new foods or simply tasting the creations of others, there is something for everyone at the festival.

Cookbooks are a staple item for many print companies with millions being sold each year, and the food and wine festival will give visitors plenty of encouragement to delve into their cookbooks back at home.

This year’s festival includes more than 200 events in central Melbourne and around the region. A highlight of the festival is the Langham Masterclass Weekend, held on Saturday March 9th and Sunday March 10th, which brings top chefs from around the world to Melbourne to share their secrets.

Wine connoisseurs can taste fine samples, and even tea and coffee fans are in for a treat with events including a tea ceremony and a coffee championship. Anyone keen to learn new skills can book in advance for one of the cooking classes, which range from chocolate making for children to learning knife skills and how to make home-made bread for adults.

Visitors from Broadmeadows who are inspired to go home and try their own dishes will find plenty of fresh local produce at the Farmers’ Market at the Smythesdale Historic Precinct on the festival’s penultimate day.

The festival runs from Friday March 1st to Sunday March 17th. For more information and to book tickets, visit the official festival website. Some events are already selling out so early booking is recommended.
