Exhibition dedicated to music industry roadies

Broadmeadows residents are among many across Hume City set to benefit from a newly opened exhibition that celebrates the rock music legacy as seen and experienced by Adrian Anderson who worked with a host of different artists and bands since he began in the industry in the 1960s.

The Heavy Lifting: vintage rock T-Shirts and roadie reunions exhibition provides an insight into the labour, innovation and expertise of roadies, often considered the music industry's backbone. Whilst working with a host of bands, Adrian built up quite a collection of vintage rock T-Shirts, which are on show.

In addition to T-Shirts, the exhibition shines a light on his many music industry colleagues, the well-being of which was the catalyst for Adrian co-founding ARCA, an organisation that provides counselling, health, financial and well-being services for any crew or roadies in crisis.

Adrian said an important part of being a roadie is the camaraderie and says the exhibition takes visitors on a journey of commitment. It also showcases important connections made and brings to light their hard work while recognising the important contribution each has made behind the scenes. Featured artists are often advertised via poster printing campaigns but there is no such recognition for roadies.

The exhibition, a must for all music lovers and those who are keen to look back over local history to events such as the Sunbury Music Festival, will be on show at the Sunbury Hume Global Learning Centre Gallery until April 16.
