Council invite nominations for annual business awards
The search is on for nominees in this year’s Hume Business Awards.
City of Hume Mayor Cr Helen Patsikatheodorou has invited residents from Broadmeadows, Victoria and surrounding areas to nominate private enterprises within the City.
She said the area was home to an eclectic mix of industries ranging from manufacturing and transport, to tourism and retail.
The Mayor said the business community played an important role in providing employment and giving local families a chance to build great futures.
She said the awards are an ideal opportunity to reward locally-based commercial enterprises, which show great service or a fantastic product in addition to exemplary service.
Laminating and hanging certificates won in the awards, she added, can be a way of showcasing achievements while also boosting staff morale.
Mayor Patsikatheodorou said this year’s awards will recognise the superior efforts of firms in many areas of industry new and established, including innovation, professional services, customer service, retail, sustainability, and manufacturing.
The Breathometer Corporation, which has assisted in reducing drink-driving throughout the nation with its hi-tech blood alcohol determining devices, was named Hume Business of the Year in 2015, she said.
Hume City Council introduced the awards to encourage the establishment of new local industries. Events such as this are also complemented by a series of business breakfasts and networking opportunities throughout the year.
The deadline for Business Award nominations is September 21.
