What's Happening in Broadmeadows, VIC…

Community centre celebrates its first year

The Broadmeadows Community Hub is marking its first birthday by holding an open day, and residents are being invited to join in.

During the afternoon, there will be live performances and talks offering information on local groups. The event is offering people a chance to find out more about what goes on at the centre, and brochure printers will no doubt have helped to produce information that people can take away on the various courses and clubs.

There will be also a number of hands-on activities taking place during the open afternoon, including workshops and children’s events. A barbecue lunch will be provided as part of the celebrations.

The Hub, located in Widford Street on the former Dallas Neighbourhood House site, cost $4.6 million and was funded by the Hume City Council and the Victorian Government.

It is the base for many of the area’s state and local government services, including maternal and child health nurses and a playgroup. Additionally, it hosts several community groups, including the Broadmeadows Combined Pensioners Association and Dallas Neighbourhood House.

It also offers courses and classes for Hume residents, a computer room, and meeting spaces.

The open day takes place on Friday, November 21st from 1pm to 5pm. For more information about services provided at the Broadmeadows Community Hub, visit the Hume City Council website.
