Broadmeadows residents to contribute to arts project

Creative residents of Broadmeadows are invited to contribute to the “School of Plastic Fish”, a collaborative project between Hume City Council’s Arts and Culture and Sustainable Environment departments and the Colourful Collective.

The project is designed to encourage dialogue and positive activities centred on the issues caused by the problems of plastic waste around the world.

Two online workshops will be held offering educational and creative ideas to schools in the area and to all other interested community members. People wanting to get involved in the project and make their own fish are asked to visit the Colourful Collective website to view educational resources, documentaries and information on making fish for the exhibition.

Completed fish will be displayed in a virtual exhibition, or may become part of a larger display of fish to be displayed at the Gee Lee-Wik Doleen Gallery. Participants are encouraged to use as much creativity as they would like while constructing their fish, and there are a wide variety of prizes that will be awarded across different categories at the conclusion of the project.

Artists will often use poster printing to advertise exhibitions and workshops to the public.

The online workshops will be held on Thursday, December 10 and Sunday, February 14, while the physical exhibition will be open to the public from Thursday, December 17. For more information, see the Hume City Council website or the Colourful Collective website.
