Tourism Queensland has launched a new $57,000 marketing campaign targeted towards attracting young travellers and backpackers to the area. This promotional activity hopes to get the attention of travellers by offering them specials for short break holidays in the state.
The campaign plans to use a variety of methods to reach their target audience. Some of these include email campaigns, online marketing and social media. The tourism authority also plans on utilizing poster printing services to create Posters which will be placed in affiliate agent stores.
Generally travel outlets target families and working couples. However more and more travel businesses now realise that young people have both the time and money to spend on travel. Young travelers also take part in a number of different tourism experiences in the area. The value of youth travellers was acknowledged when it was revealed that 4.2 million youth frequented the area in 2011.
There are a number of Queensland locations that are popular with young travelers. Cairns is well known for its party atmosphere and outdoor experiences. Those who want a more commercial experience can head to the Gold Coast and visit attractions such as Movie World and Dream World. Mooloolaba is an excellent option for those who want to enjoy the beaches without the crowds that turn up at Surfers Paradise.
Tourism Queensland will be promoting short break package deals for youth travellers on a budget. They will also be giving discounts on popular tourist attractions and experiences in the Queensland area.
