Social group for teens launched in Maroochydore

Maroochydore parents can engage their teenagers in a social group this March.

The Senior Teens’ Group Maroochydore is targeted towards those aged between 15 to 18 years old who are looking to make new friends. Activities during the social get-together may include arts and crafts, board games, drawing, dinners, bowling and other excursions.

The social group is an opportunity for older teenagers to chat, chill, share food and hot chocolate in an environment that is supported, safe and friendly. Social groups like this can be promoted effectively via flyer printing, with Flyers posted in school halls, community recreation centres, libraries and local grocers for wide coverage.

The Senior Teens’ Group will be held at the STEPS Autism Treehouse, and it is funded by the Australian Government Department of Social Services. The venue offers a range of services, which include educational workshops, parent and carer groups, movie nights, autism adventure day camps and resources. Its aim is to create a connection between the local community and families living with autism in the Sunshine Coast.

The Senior Teens’ Group will be held on Thursday, 11th March from 5pm to 7pm, and will occur weekly. STEPS Autism Treehouse is located on 78 Duport Avenue. The event is free to attend. For more information, STEPS Autism Treehouse can be contacted via phone.
