Strong, competent swimmers may be keen to attend the Royal Life Saving Pool Lifeguard Course next month in Maroochydore.
Royal Life Saving began to train lifeguards for the pool over 30 years ago. The Pool Lifeguard Course covers current technology and techniques and includes areas such as supervision, risk management and resuscitation. Many of the skills taught, such as public relations and conflict resolution, are also transferable to the wider workplace. A qualified lifeguard is able to step into a lifeguarding role in a national and international capacity, thus the qualification has real benefits outside of the training.
The course consists of practical and theoretical aspects, with experienced trainers employing realistic scenarios to consolidate the learning experience. Practical initiatives such as those offered by Royal Life Saving will often be brought to the attention of the community by delivery of Brochures that are created by local printing services.
The Royal Life Saving Pool Lifeguard Course will begin on Wednesday, 20th July at 9am and finish on Friday, 17th July at 5pm at Maroochydore 4558. The cost for the course is $360 and the minimum age for enrolment is 16.
All who enrol need to also hold a current First Aid Certificate. A reasonable level of fitness is assumed together with proficiency in swimming. The course consists of online learning and assessments, plus the more traditional face-to-face instruction element.
