“I’d love to see the Wharf redeveloped into a marine precinct with chandleries, seafood, clothing stores and it would just be wonderful to see the fishermen selling their catch.”
Mr Foran has been buoyed by the emergence of the Friday night market at the wharf and is keen to assist with further developments. Prior to moving to the Sunshine Coast, Mr Foran oversaw the development of a Beijing golf course, and presently manages Mirrachana and Spinnaker Quays.
Mooloolaba is the eastern seaboard’s largest north-facing beach. The region also provides more seafood than anywhere else on the coast of Queensland. These assets, plus the picturesque setting and village atmosphere, create the perfect setting for a marketplace, according to Mr Foran. Private sponsorship is presently being sought to build support for the project.
Mr Foran hopes that a major advertising push will assist the region in dealing with fluctuations in tourist numbers, with a market at the wharf adding to the town’s appeal.
Interested locals inclined to assist in promoting the project can provide information by banner printing and poster printing. The popular wharf precinct is an ideal location to utilise flyer printing and other Print company materials for informing visitors and tourists of the project.
