Maroochydore, Queensland residents will be among many on the Sunshine Coast to benefit from a proposed revitalisation programme in Mooloolaba.
The long-term vision for the iconic area has been outlined in a new document released by Sunshine Coast Council, which seeks to connect four key precincts including the Southern Gateway, the wharf, the Mooloolaba Heart, and the esplanade and foreshore.
Once the plan has been implemented, according to Councillor Chris Thompson, Mooloolaba will be set to become an outstanding beach destination for people from around the world.
He said it will be a place with a healthy active lifestyle and natural beauty, where visitors could also enjoy a wide range of water activities.
The popular destination has long been among the Sunshine Coast’s leading tourist destinations and is featured on many promotional Postcards, Calendars, Brochures and marketing products.
The Place Making Mooloolaba Master Plan seeks to enhance the area’s economy and vibrancy with entertainments areas, parks, cycle links, improved pedestrian access, and car parking, according to Cr. Thompson, and work will be undertaken in a short-to-long-term schedule.
He said increased public parkland on the beachfront and the retention of Mooloolaba’s natural aspects were part of the plan.
The master plan was developed following a two-stage consultation process and community feedback, which revealed more than 80% of those who took part supported the plan.
Council’s 2016-17 Budget is expected to include a detailed design of the proposed parkland area.Get a Free Quote for Postcards Get a Free Quote for Brochures Get a Free Quote for Calendars
