Maroochydore residents to get off the beaten track

Residents of Maroochydore will have the chance to join in a series of trail runs in and around the Beerwah State Forest as part of the Sunshine Coast Trail Run Festival.

With events suitable for athletes of all abilities, the festival has something for everyone. Races include a children’s event named “Mud Rats”, five and 11 kilometre races and a half marathon.

The running trails will take participants through the Beerwah forest, and terrain will include winding tracks and rocky ground to challenge runners, whether experienced or not.

Benefits of trail running include increased endurance, balance and strength, as runners must be able to adapt to different terrains. Trail running also offers a chance to get to know an area better and can break up the monotony of running in the same locations every day.

All the trail runs in the festival feature spectacular scenery of the Sunshine Coast hinterland. This family-friendly event is run in conjunction with the Sunshine Coast Mountain Bike Festival.

Race organisers and sponsors will often use banner printing to advertise events and sponsorship by placing large Banners in strategic locations throughout the race, such as at the finish line.

The Sunshine Coast Trail Run Festival will be held on Sunday, October 25. For more information about the event or to see the course, visit the Trail Run Australia website.
