Experienced and novice cooks in Maroochydore might wish to learn some principles of healthy Ayurvedic cooking this summer.
Ayurvedic cooking is an ancient art form where practitioners are attuned to their bodies and cook and prepare food accordingly, using gentle heating methods and preparing food combinations for maximum digestive health. Seasonal produce is also important, as is the judicious use of healing herbs and spices.
The Ayurveda cooking class will be led by Dr Ram Mani Bhandari, a renowned Ayurvedic practitioner. He trained in India and Nepal and is a graduate in Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery and has advanced training from the Vaidyaratnam Ayurveda Foundation Centre of Excellence.
Attendees to the class will learn the principles of Ayurvedic cooking, the use of Ayurvedic herbs and spices and how to boost the medicinal qualities of ingredients. There will be hands-on demonstrations and at the end of the event, there will be a question and answer session.
As part of the takeaway from the class, the participants will take away handouts. Many workshops will produce these at local Print shops.
The Ayurveda Cooking Class takes place on Saturday 6th July, from 10am until 1pm at the Sunshine Ayurveda Wellness Centre, Maroochydore Neighbourhood Centre, 2 Fifth Avenue, Maroochydore, QLD 4558. Tickets cost $90, to include lunch. The event is suitable for all skill levels, including beginners.
