Colourful, energetic indie pop singer/songwriter Montaigne was born Jessica Alyssa Cerro in 1995, changing her name in 2013 due to inspiration from the sixteenth century philosopher Michel de Montaigne. She has recently collaborated with David Byrne (of Talking Heads fame) on her new album “Making It!”. Byrne was keen to share space with Montaigne and ended up singing on the singles “Always Be You” and “Gravity”. With several dates across Australia, her tour is bound to be a spectacular, memorable occasion. Of her meeting with Byrne, Montaigne said:
“It’s pretty much the biggest deal in the world for me to be able to collaborate with him.”
Montaigne also credits reading Byrne’s book How Music Works as being instrumental to the way she now undertakes live performance.
In 2016, Montaigne won Breakthrough Artist of the Year in the ARIA Music Awards and has been nominated several times since as Live Act of the Year in the National Live Music Awards. For concerts such as this, poster printing can be employed by music promoters in order to advertise events of interest to local people.
Montaigne ‘The Making it! Tour’ takes place at Solbar on Ocean Street, Maroochydore, on Friday, October 7 at 7pm. Tickets cost $44.90.
