Chamber boss looks to boost business confidence

Jo Hall, the president of Kawana Waters Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which includes Mooloolaba in its coverage, has told Sunshine Coast Daily that 2012 will be a year for increasing confidence in local businesses.

When interviewed, Ms Hall said:

“I had the privilege of staying at home this year for Christmas and it has been an absolute buzz with tourists and locals. From what I have seen they have all been spending… From the business community that I have spoken to, particularly the retailers and hospitality business owners, things are looking up.”

Ms Hall said that increasing confidence in local business is a self-perpetuating cycle, as positive businesses will encourage economic growth in 2012, leading to spending rather than saving and more job opportunities for locals.

The Chamber of Commerce was established over twenty years ago. It states on its website – kawanabiz.com.au – that its

“mission is to facilitate business network opportunities in a friendly environment and to provide the benefits of professional business support and information.”

The Chamber of Commerce holds regular meetings on the second Wednesday of each month, where local business owners have an opportunity to discuss local issues and support each other – just make sure to get your business card printing completed before attending.

Ms Hall also said that the chamber was looking for new leadership in the local government elections to be held later this year, in the hope that the incumbents will help to “stimulate our local economy”.
