Westfield plans boost to North Lakes retail sector
Facilities servicing the growing community of North Lakes, Queensland will increase when a new IKEA and Restaurant and Cinema precinct open in 2015 and 2016.
A Westfield North Lakes spokeswoman said the major shopping centre complex was expected to include a new restaurant precinct offering a mix of authentic cuisines, cafés and fast food outlets by the end of the year.
Restaurants to open just in time for the Christmas period include Churro Chocolateria, Oi Sushi, Kinn Thai, The Grove Train and Grill’d.
An Event Cinema with eight screens, including two V Max and two Gold Class facilities, is also to feature in a new entertainment precinct due to be operational by early 2016.
Future catalogue printing at the centre is also expected to incorporate goods from a new discount department store, as well as 60 home, lifestyle and fashion outlets to be established in a proposed new mall that the spokeswoman said was planned to link with IKEA.
She said the new IKEA store was expected to open in late 2016 and connect with Westfield North Lakes via the new connecting mall.
The malls design, she added, was inspired by Queensland’s love for the great outdoors and would provide a unique shopping experience for visitors complete with innovative outlets and natural, light décor finishes dressed with greenery aplenty.
A new marketplace for fresh food is also planned for the centre.
