Residents of North Lakes, Queensland, have been offered another chance to travel the path of the Moreton Bay Rail Link, set for completion in 2016.
The bus trips along the proposed route that stretches from Kippa-Ring to Mango Hill were completely booked out when offered last November, resulting in only 660 of the 1000 residents who responded making the journey.
Reg Gulley, Member for Murrumba, said the overwhelming demand prompted the invitation to be extended on another date in January.
He said the bus trip represented a rare opportunity for residents to travel the train line route before it went into operation in 2016.
As part of the journey, residents will be taken by a mini bus through usually off-limits construction zones to see first hand the massive engineering feats achieved to make the service a reality.
Mr Gulley said the project cost $988 million and involved the establishment of a dual-track passenger line extending 12.6km. As part of the project, new railway stations will open at Mango Hill, Mango Hill East, Rothwell and Kippa-Ring.
Printing services will ensure timetables for the new stops will be circulated to residents in plenty of time for the launch.
Mr Gulley urged residents to book early for the latest bus trips, which will run hourly on January 17th, 2015. Preference, he said, would be given to those who failed to gain a seat on the first trip in November.
