The council, together with Belgravia Leisure, which has the management contract for the aquatic facilities, made the announcement recently. The entry price freeze was imposed despite revenue losses and operational costs incurred by the company during COVID-19 restrictions.
The news was welcomed by Mayor Peter Flannery, who acknowledged Belgravia Leisure's commitment to the Moreton Bay area and their understanding that life for everyone has not been easy recently. He added:
“Part of this price freeze is possible because of Council’s swift decision earlier this year to cover utility costs for our pool and leisure centres across the region. This meant Moreton Bay pools opened before any other in Queensland."
Belgravia Leisure CEO Nick Cox said that senior, disability, family, child and adult entry fees will all stay at the current prices for a full year.
Flyer printing campaigns have often helped to advise local residents of pool entry prices and events such as free classes to learn how to swim.
The facilities benefitting from the price freeze include North Lakes Aquatic Centre, Woodford Swimming Pool, Settlement Cove Lagoon, Samford Swimming Pool, Redcliffe War Memorial Pool, Caboolture Pool and Fitness Centre, Lawnton Swimming Complex and many more.
