Work has begun on a new IKEA store for North Lakes, Queensland.
The furnishing retail giant will be located adjacent to the suburb’s Westfield development.
IKEA's 29,000sq metre store is set to offer a Self Serve Warehouse, Market Hall and Showroom, as well as a restaurant, bistro and Swedish Food Market.
David Hood, the country manager for IKEA Australia, said an estimated 150 contractors would work on construction of the new store and, when completed, an estimated 250 jobs would be created.
He added that shoppers would be the real winners, with the IKEA range set to offer over 8,000 products. There will also be 12,000 square metres of combined Market Hall space and furniture showroom displays, plus a 450-seat dining outlet.
A play facility for children will be located inside, and parking for 1,000 cars will be provided.
Hood said the complex, which will be widely marketed with Signs and poster printing, will be energy efficient through the use of solar panels and a 10,000 LED-powered lighting system.
Future IKEA employees at the North Lakes store could also look forward to great career opportunities spanning local, national and international markets, he said.
The new North Lakes store will be the second in Queensland branch for IKEA. It is due to be completed at some point late next year.Get a Free Quote for Signs
