As part of the Moreton Bay region, North Lakes has a diverse environment that creates the perfect environment for wildlife, and it is home to over 360 species of native birds. Birds Queensland and Birdlife Australia have both been long aware of the birdwatching opportunities in the area and believed it was time to facilitate access to birdwatching opportunities for the general public by launching the birdwatching guide, called Bird Places of Moreton Bay.
Mayor Peter Flannery joined the two birding organisations to launch the inaugural Bird Places of Moreton Bay guide. The brochure is in full colour and features 34 birding sites, details on all the local facilities, GPS coordinates and species.
Birdlife Australia convener Judith Hoyle said she could not wait for locals to get their hands on the brochure, and she added:
“Locals will finally have access to a fantastic resource which will allow them to connect with the incredibly diverse range of birds found here.”
Brochure printing is often used when producing informative materials for the public, such as the new birdwatching guide.
Residents or visitors can collect a copy of Bird Places of Moreton Bay at their local environment centre, or a copy can be downloaded from the council’s website.
