The myMBRL app is an initiative of Moreton Bay Council and will give library members the ability to use their tablet or phone to borrow audiobooks, online magazines and eBooks, stream music and movies, and reserve recently released bestsellers.
All library enthusiasts will consider the app as a must-have, according to Mayor of Moreton Bay Peter Flannery. He said everything people would expect from a local library, including the facility to browse Books on offer and borrow them, is available via the app. He added:
“You can update your library details, manage your loans, reservations and family accounts, register for library workshops and events, and even check if your favourite book is available at your local library."
Council innovations such as this free app are often advertised via flyer printing campaigns in libraries and throughout the local area.
Flannery said the introduction of the app means established members of the region's libraries no longer have to queue to swipe their cards, but instead can now scan them by using the app. Non-members who are interested in accessing entertainment, programmes and free resources are also able to sign-up via the app.
The myMBRL app is available for free download on the council's website, or, for those who need a helping hand, staff at any local library can be contacted.
