Based in Queensland, the builder was successfully contracted for the construction project, known as Laguna, by the George Group and local developer Pointcorp.
Richards and Spence, assisted by the Nettleton Tribe firm, are the architects who designed the major development, which will include wellness, gym and function spaces. This will be complemented by a dining scene, high street shopping, lagoon-style pool and community space thoughtfully dispersed across the full 1.7 hectares.
It will also incorporate 5,000 sqm of beverage, food and fashion retailers, 10,500 sqm of office space in addition to a hotel with 140 rooms, a large event and function centre and a mix of community facilities.
A high street, orientated towards pedestrians, will form what has been described as the ‘central spine’ of the precinct, which will be centrally located in the CBD of North Lakes.
Major innovations such as this development often attract additional visitors to a centre and boost demand for businesses such as printing services and retailers.
According to Carl Nancarrow, McNab’s Construction Manager, the Laguna precinct project will also provide more jobs for local subcontractors with an estimated 300 workers expected to be onsite during peak construction times. He added:
“This is a large-scale project requiring a significant amount of tradespeople which provides a consistent workflow for our valued subcontractors and suppliers.”
The project is set for completion in 2022.
