Easter fun awaits for North Lakes

The long Easter weekend is a time for having fun with friends and family, and the Redcliffe Festival of Sails is the perfect place to enjoy a day out.

Just a short drive from North Lakes, the festival held at Sutton Beach coincides with the Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race, and there will be plenty of things to do on and off the water.

Several activities will take place on the beach itself, including sand sculptures, beach volleyball, and kite surfing displays. In the air, look out for the Easter Bunny who, weather permitting, will be parachuting in for a visit.

Adults will enjoy wandering through more than 100 craft and food stalls, while children could spend a whole day taking part in the free workshops, which include kite making and Lego building. Other events for children include pony rides and face painting.

The yachts from the Brisbane to Gladstone race should pass by at around 11:30 am, so be sure to be on the beach around that time.

The colourful scenes on the water, on land, and in the sky should make for spectacular photographs. It is worth thinking about collecting the best and asking a Print company to make a photo book from them, or consider postcard printing to create cards to send to friends and family overseas.

The festival takes place on Good Friday, March 29, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. The main events take place along Sutton Beach, Marine Parade, Redcliffe. Free parking will be available at the Redcliffe Showgrounds and a free shuttle bus will run between there and the festival.
