What's Happening in North Lakes, QLD…

Dance along the Lifespan comes to North Lakes

Dance along the Lifespan, an event for seniors, allied health professionals, aged care workers and dance teachers will be held on November 10 in North Lakes. The event encourages dance, discussion and networking for mature people and health workers. The event includes showing of short films featuring mature dancers, a participative movement workshop, opportunity for meeting people and discussion, as well as morning tea.

Research shows that dance for older people is an activity that empowers and improves mental and physical health. Dance along the Lifespan is facilitated by teachers Jennifer Price and Julie Chenery from Come Dance. Their new, locally based company is dedicated to dance for health and wellbeing in the North Lakes area. This is also a useful networking opportunity for allied health workers and dancers, so it may be worth bringing some business cards with you.

Participants can expect to learn a range of dance movements easy for mature people and meet dancers, teachers and health professionals for possible referrals. Participants are encouraged to bring comfortable shoes for dance, a water bottle and a jacket for when not moving around. The venue is wheelchair accessible and has a Cultural Activation team for any other enquiries.

Dance along the Lifespan will be held on November 10 from 9:00am to 12:30pm at North Lakes Community Centre, Main Hall, 10 The Corso, North Lakes. For bookings, follow this link: https://www.moretonbay.qld.gov.au/Events/Dance-Along-The-Lifespan
