Mayor Peter Flannery said that the aim was to spread the word both nationally and internationally and attract the best-practice data and telecommunications infrastructure to the 460 hectare Moreton Bay development site, which is set to be the country's foremost innovation and knowledge hub.
He said the initial EOI will concentrate on investigating opportunities for establishing a data centre area at The Mill as a means of meeting demand for digital services for the community and businesses. Commercially viable and sustainable energy distribution and production, such as water treatment, thermal systems and solar farms, will be explored as part of a second EOI.
Such innovations have the potential to help all businesses, ranging from Print shops to retail outlets and corporate offices.
The new precinct is set to provide world-class job and educational opportunities that will effectively support the region's continued growth and economic development.
According to North Lakes Chamber of Commerce President, Sharon Armstrong, The Mill PDA – which will be anchored by a full service university campus – has much to offer. She added:
“Universities bring new knowledge, new experiences and more people in to the local area. We are very excited with what The Mill at Moreton Bay will offer for local businesses.”
The EOIs will be available between August and September.
