Writers' celebration coming to Randwick

Literary enthusiasts from Randwick and the surrounding areas can enjoy two local events as part of this year’s Sydney Writers' Festival.

Australian author James Bradley will be at the Margaret Martin Library in Randwick to discuss his latest work. The novel, called Clade, tells a love story set in the future looking at how changes to the planet might affect future generations.

Further, theatre fans from Randwick as well as Bondi Junction and Maroubra should head out to nearby Bondi Beach to see Rock Surfers Theatre Company present a new work by writer and performer Phil Spence, and songwriter Richard Cuthbert, at Bondi Pavilion. The play tells the story of a man who loses part of his life in the car park of Bondi Westfield.

This year’s festival will see more than 400 writers take part at venues across Sydney. The theme of this year’s event is “How to Live?” and will look at how people can live their lives to the full and create a sense of purpose.

Full details of the program are available online, and printing services have been used to create a hard copy of the festival brochure, which is available from libraries and bookshops.

Bookings for these and all festival events can be made via the Sydney Writers’ Festival website, and bookings can also be made locally.

James Bradley will be discussing his novel on Wednesday, May 20th, while the theatre show is scheduled for Monday, May 18th.
