Sydneys historical Art Deco buildings to be discussed

A talk will be in held Randwick later this month with author Dr Peter Sheridan to discuss the Art Deco buildings of Sydney.

Author Talks will feature Dr Sheridan, who is well-known as an author and historian and is also an avid collector of Art Deco Design, owning one of the world’s best collections of Art Deco radios.

Dr Sheridan will be discussing how the Art Deco style has impacted on the architecture and landscape of Sydney, particularly throughout the 1930’s and into the 1940’s. The evening will include a presentation of Dr Sheridan’s latest book, Sydney’s Art Deco. The book is the first, complete reference book to be written around the heritage of Sydney’s Art Deco buildings, and will be available to purchase on the evening.

The book lists not only commercial, but residential and industrial style buildings around the city, as well as local shops and pubs and showcases at least 100 architects from the local area.

Dr Sheridan has received international acclaim with his photographic images and articles appearing in fine art Journals as well as in museum Catalogues and other Print media.

The event will be held at the Margaret Martin Library in Randwick on Wednesday 24th July. Events such as this often use poster or flyer printing to advertise.

The talk will begin at 7pm, however those interested in attending are requested to arrive early from 6:30pm.
